Counselors' Corner
Need help? You've come to the right place!
Help with individual challenges Each challenge has a counselor listed on the right-hand side of the page. You may email that counselor at any time for assistance completing a challenge. Please copy Camp Director Skibba on any help messages and include the challenge number in the subject line. We will be happy to send you a quick video tutorial or assist via email or phone. Campfire Days 7/29 and 8/7 - Register now! If you'd rather come to camp (er, school) and complete the challenges with direct counselor assistance and tasty snacks, we are offering two days this summer when you can come in and work through the challenges with counselor guidance. Those dates are Tuesday, July 29 and Thursday, August 7. You may attend one or both days; these will be self-paced sessions with counselor support. Please click here to register! We will only offer Campfire Days if we know campers will be in attendance. Brief reflection?? What text goes in a blog post? We want the blog to be a space where you can share your thoughts and experiences as you learn these apps. What did you create, and why? What went well for you? What was challenging? What did you enjoy? What ideas do you have for using this tool with your students, or for using this tool to communicate with families? You certainly don’t have to answer all of these questions, but share a bit of your experience and thinking as you completed the challenge. Logging in to the Kidblog app To log in to Kidblog, you will need to enter just the second part of our blog address. The app already provides kidblog.org. You just need to type burleytechcamp. When you tap username, you will see a scrolling list of names appear at the bottom of the iPad screen. Find your name, tap it, and then enter your secret camp password to log in. View the tutorial here. Navigating Kidblog The Kidblog app is sort of a combination between app and browser. It's great for creating new posts, editing posts, and attaching media. It's less great for leaving comments, but that feature does work when you are in the View Site tab. You may prefer reading others' posts and leaving comments by going directly to the blog kidblog.org/burleytechcamp in Safari or another browser. Contact a counselor if you're struggling! View the tutorial here. Organizing Posts Each post should have the challenge number in the subject line. You must also add each post to a Category. When you create a post, you will see a Category field. If you tap that field, a list of challenges will pop up, along with the category for Arts & Crafts. Be sure to choose the correct category before you post! This category structure will also help you when you're reading other campers' posts. A Note about the Camera Roll? Photo Library? Photos? Help! The iPad stores images you capture and create in its Photos app. However, when different apps save photos, they might use the term Camera Roll or Photo Library. Don't be confused; these all mean the same thing! |
